A team of American YouTubers have taken the ultimate gamble and traded in their $20k Tesla for a mystery box full of unorthodox shoes.

As the old fable goes, what weighs more, 100 pounds of bricks or 100 pounds of feathers?

What is more valuable, one $20k Tesla or $20k split into hundreds of trainers?

Well, these guys thought they’d take the risk of selling their ‘cheap’ Tesla for a mystery box full of expensive shoes.

Of course, nobody really knows what’s inside a box. Just recently Supercar Blondie unboxed a Ram from China that had more than a few surprises.

And everyone knows what you get with solid Tesla cars, the highest-selling car brand in the US is becoming a staple for reliability.

American YouTuber Harrison Nevel and his team decided that they would swap the old reliable Tesla for a surprise box of trainers though, not knowing whether the haul was a booty of Balenciagas or Crocs.

The Tesla in question was a 2013 Model S with 175,000 miles on the clock, and they agreed on a straight swap with a local sneaker store to turn their rubber wheels into soles.

The Tesla was bought for $19,500 and then sold to the sneaker dealership in a straight swap for ‘$20,000’ worth of unseen trainers, where each individual pair would then be split between Harrison and his partner in crime.

Was it worth it?

The thing with mystery boxes is that the valuation of an individual pair of trainers is open to interpretation. Some styles may not suit the new owner, while the prices can easily depreciate if not kept in completely mint condition.

However, the unboxing of the mystery load was completed in the video and collectively, they came better off.

The entire haul ended up being a worthwhile purchase, adding up to more than the Tesla’s $20,000 price tag.

But having split the fee two ways with $10k each, one man was left with a better half of the loot.

The total haul was split $13,265 and $8,745 (totaling $22,000).

Somehow they each ended up walking away happy… and in style.

It’s definitely not the worst car trade that we’ve ever seen.
