This YouTuber had bought an extremely cheap McLaren and now he wanted to get it kitted with the cheapest bodykit he could find.

YouTuber The Inja hit the jackpot back in December 2023 when he took in a 2016 McLaren Automotive 650S Spider.

Although these cars would usually be worth more than $136,000, a crash had knocked its value down to $38,500.

Having already gotten a great deal for this car, the YouTuber decided to take things a step further.

Fast forward a few months, and the McLaren had gone through a fair few changes.

The car still had a few kinks that needed working out, namely billowing white smoke from the engine.

There’s nothing worse than a car’s engine being engulfed in smoke, as was the case with this 1971 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.

The Inja

But at least one thing was going well – a $5,000 Chinese bodykit had arrived and was ready to be put on.

The YouTuber admitted: “I’m doing this mostly because I need to get excited about the project again.

“It’s been sitting like this in the same spot for like three months.”

Getting all the necessary parts together for the hood took a bit of scrambling around.

He explained: “This hood I bought from eBay for $1,500.

“I was pumped it came with the McLaren emblem on it, which is usually $200 on its own.

“But it didn’t come with any of the other hardware.

“Luckily, the hood latch I found on its own, and the hood hinges I scavenged from the hood that came with the car.”

Half a day of work later, and the hood was mounted to the car.

Now it was time to fit the rest of the panels on, which included the bumper.

It was a trial and error process with the bumper, as it needed to be removed and shaved down a few times.

But it was worth it in the end.

The end result

When it came time to try out the headlights and high beams, it worked like a dream.

And on top of that, it looked as sleek and cool as you’d imagine.

There’s still work left to be done – namely addressing the smoking issue.

But as it stands, the car looked pretty sweet from the front.

As cheap as this McLaren was, it’s not the sweetest deal somebody has gotten on a car.

One guy snapped up a fleet of 10 electric vehicles for $900 each, which is a true bargain by anybody’s estimation.

To keep up to date with his progress on the McLaren, head over to The Inja‘s YouTube channel.
