A YouTuber recently bought a 1976 Eldorado which hadn’t moved for over 20 years and instantly flipped it for a sale. But was it worth it?

The Cadillac Eldorado was one of the last American-made soft-top convertibles as General Motors clung on to the dying fascination with this vintage style.

While American Motors, Chrysler, and Ford stopped their respective productions in the early 70s, General Motors held out until 76 with its final hoorah: the Eldorado.

A few decades later these vintage Cadillacs are now prized possessions, and one content creator has snagged himself a low-mileage 1976 Eldorado for just $2,500 and flipped it for sale.

Cadillac Eldorados are usually primed for flipping after the soft-top convertible ran out of popularity quite quickly and have been sitting in garages for a generation – one 1956 body was recently discovered that was so filthy that it changed color after its first shower in two decades.

YouTube account personality NoNonsenseKnowHow, who is renowned for flipping old vehicles, has now found a 1976 Eldorado that hadn’t seen sunlight for 21 years.

The classic convertible was sold to the YouTuber for just $2,500 and he immediately went to town to find its issues and get it up and running.

At first glance, the blue exterior appeared to be mostly in great condition with minimal damage. The interior matched too, with only a bit of a mildew rot on the carpets, rust on the steering wheel, and one furry nest in the glovebox.

Under the hood, most elements seemed to be intact too.

With a new battery, an oil change, and some fresh gas, the car ignited and roared.

The problems with the car resided underneath.

The YouTuber found some leaks in the rear brakes, transmission, and fuel pump.

The car had also only done 100 miles since 1996 but had clocked up tens of thousands in the 20 years after it was first made.

Restored 1976 Eldorado primed for resale

While the 1976 Edorado isn’t quite in its prime status, the YouTuber is now happy with the restoration and is looking to find it a new home.

After testing its suspension in puddles and potholes, the steering with some rather jagged swerves, and its speed with a straight open road, he noted that there was still some way to go before the car could be showroom-worthy.

Likely a new soft top and a lot of engine work would be needed.

For this Eldorado, the owner was looking for $3,000 otherwise he would be stripping it down for parts considering the condition of most of the internals.

Not bad for a single day’s work and a bit of elbow grease.

Restoration projects are becoming increasingly popular as vintage styles are back in fashion, and old abandoned Cadillac Eldorado cars are right in the firing line when it comes to bringing history to life again.

For this YouTuber, a bigger task is on hand next as he took a fancy to an old and damaged Lincoln at the same site as he found the Cadillac.
