Vast – an aerospace startup – has been working on Haven-1, the world’s first commercial space station, for a long time.
It is now ready and, should everything go to plan, people might be able to get there soon.
Predictably, the station looks quite fancy.
It sort of looks like a luxury hotel.

Welcome to Vast Haven-1
Designed by Vast, an aerospace startup, the world’s first commercial space station is called Haven-1.
It’s quite vast, pun intended, although it mostly extends lengthwise.
It’s 100 meters long, around 328 feet, and it comprises four private crew quarters, a lab, and a common area.
It also has internet access thanks to SpaceX’s Starlink system.
The station was apparently designed by Peter Russell-Clarke, a former Apple designer, and NASA astronaut Andrew Feustel.
It still looks pretty barren when compared to an actual luxury hotel here on Earth but, for a space station, it looks quite elegant.
How does Haven-1 compare to the International Space Station?
Haven-1 looks completely different to the International Space Station, the ISS, and for good reason.
The ISS is a workplace where professional astronauts from different countries live and work for months on end, sometimes including holiday periods, such as Christmas.
By contrast, Haven-1 is a commercial space station designed for wealthy tourists.
Let’s be brutally honest, Haven-1 was designed, among other things, to be a bit more Instagram-friendly than the ISS.
The ISS is still fascinating, though.
So the ISS may not be as glamorous as Haven-1, but it is still quite striking in its own right.
Also, if you want to check out and explore the International Space Station, thanks to NASA and Google, you can now do so using Google Earth.
