This woman’s Nissan told her to fill up on gas ASAP, but the warning might’ve been a little dramatic.

TikToker Alexis White shared her low fuel moment in a short clip, and her deadpan reaction has now racked up more than 1.1 million views.

The internet was quick to divide: some called the warning overkill, but others, including professionals, urged her to take it seriously or it could cause damage to her car.

We all know when that fuel light comes on, there are only two kinds of drivers: those who fill up immediately, and those who see it, shrug, and keep driving – guilty.

Why she laughed when it warned her to fill up on gas

White’s Nissan flashed the dreaded low fuel warning. But the kicker: it had 72 miles left.

“Homegirl, let me know when I’m down to like, 10,” she joked.

Adding in the caption: “I have like three more trips before I have to fill up. Gimme a break, Nissan.”

Some drivers saw themselves in her, saying they wait until the needle is practically below zero.

One viewer confessed: “Me personally, I wait till I have to throw it into neutral and roll into the gas station.”

Another admitted: “I’ve made my way to a gas station in the AM with just ‘- – -’ because I was too lazy to stop after work.”

But not everyone found it funny.

Several commenters warned that driving on low fuel could do long-term damage.

One explained: “That can burn up your pump. It’s always best practice to fill your car up around 1/4 tank.”

“Be careful! My car told me 39 miles and I ran out of gas,” wrote another. “I had to hear my husband lecture me about how that number is an estimate.”

Automotive experts agree.

According to Progressive Insurance, running your tank too low risks overheating the fuel pump, damaging the engine, and harming the catalytic converter.

In other words, it’s not just a funny TikTok – it could cost you big.

Other drivers said their Nissans were just as dramatic

The comment section turned into a full-blown Nissan support group.

“My Nissan notifies me at 100 miles,” one driver said.

Another summing it up perfectly: “That Nissan Altima is dramatic.”

But dramatic or not, it’s clear that low fuel lights bring out high emotion. Some joked begging for a ‘snooze button’ on the warning light while others shared their own driving-on-empty nightmare tales.

The split is clear: there are cautious fill up on gas at half a tank folks, and there are gamblers rolling in on fumes. Both sides seem equally convinced they’re doing it right.

And if you’re in the latter camp, you’ll want to know how far you can actually drive on zero miles to empty. Spoiler: the answer might surprise you.

Either way, the low fuel light can tell you a lot about a person.
