She has no plan to live anywhere else for the next two years, and it’s easy to see why.

There are several reasons why she made this decision, and her desire to travel obviously played a key part.

But there’s something else that stood out to her.

The real reason why she chose to live on a cruise ship

Laura, the woman behind the Living on Cruise Control YouTube channel, has been living on a Princess Cruise Line since January 2025.

She already made it clear that she has a planned itinerary through March 2027, which sounds like a blast.

Laura opted for an all-inclusive package that allowed her to live in what she calls a ‘mini-suite’ where everything is included.

Drinks, Wi-Fi, food – you name it.

She said this is only setting her back around $1,000 a month, which means that, in her estimation, is a lot less than she would spending ‘on land’.

This brings us to the real reason why she chose this lifestyle.

“I don’t know of any other way of traveling the world where everything is included and everything is covered,” she said.

The only two bills that aren’t covered are her health insurance and her phone bill.

This is becoming a thing now

In the olden days, living on a cruise ship sounded like a far-fetched utopia reserved for millionaires.

But that’s no longer the case.

The millionaires and billionaires of the world can still buy a luxury home on a ship, no doubt, but regular people can do that as well.

We keep hearing stories of couples who decided to spend their retirement out at sea because it’s simply cheaper than living on land.

Digital nomads are also joining the trend.

Not long ago, a Meta employee bought an apartment on a cruise ship, precisely because it was cheaper than buying a house in California.
