Will Smith has had a road in Philadelphia named after him.

In West Philadelphia born and raised…Could we see Will Smith driving down this road sometime soon?

The actor is a Philly native, and is one of the city’s best-known sons.

It was at the intersection between North 59th Street and Lancaster Avenue that Will Smith Way was established.

The Oscar and Grammy winner was at the ceremony himself to ring in the new road name.

In West Philadelphia born and raised…

It’s not unusual for celebrities to be paid tribute to in unorthodox ways.

You may recall that Ohio honored Dolly Parton by issuing license plates that carried the country star’s face on them.

There was also a Steve McQueen tribute Jaguar, modeled on one owned by the iconic late actor.

Now Will Smith joins their ranks, as he has been honored with a street in his name.

It was opened up in a ceremony in Philadelphia, where Mayor Cherelle Parker and fellow city leaders all gathered to honor the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star.

You may recall that it was in that very show that Smith made a tribute of his own.

Don’t deny it, you’re singing the theme song right now, aren’t you?

We digress.

The 56-year-old has done a lot since his time on the sitcom, appearing in movies such as Men In Black, i-Robot, and King Richard.

So it was only fitting that his home city pay tribute to one of its own.

Smith, of course, spoke at the ceremony, and held nothing back.

“Philly, I love you. I am yours. You are mine.

“Nobody gets an easy ride. That was one of the things these streets of Philadelphia taught me: that there’s nothing wrong with a hard day’s work.”

Among those gathered at the ceremony was Smith’s former high school teacher, who called him ‘Prince Charming’.

That formed the basis of the Fresh Prince nickname which would make him an international star.

But here’s a bigger question – will we see Smith driving down his own street anytime soon?

And if so, what car will he be driving?

He’s got a solid car collection to his name, including a Maybach 57S, Bentley Azure, and Rolls-Royce Ghost.

There’s also his humongous multimillion dollar motorhome, perfect for family trips.

At any rate, millions of Philadelphians will be driving up and down Will Smith Way for many years to come.
