Tesla Model S Plaid vs Hellcat Plymouth Barracuda in a drag race
The Tesla Model S Plaid is already one of the fastest EVs around, and this one was further modified for better performance.
In fact, one of these EV beasts even took down a Lamborghini Huracán in a drag race.
Equipped with special drag radials and forged rims, the car gained extra grip on the track.
It also underwent weight reduction, shedding 140 pounds by removing the rear seats.
However, Tesla still kept its front seats and 20-speaker sound system.
These changes helped the Plaid achieve faster quarter-mile times, with an impressive solo run of 9.27 seconds at nearly 152mph.
On the other side was the Hellcat Plymouth Barracuda, a classic muscle car fitted with a beastly Hellcat Hemi V8 engine producing over 900 horsepower.
Weighing about 1,000 pounds less than the Plaid, the Barracuda had the edge.
The race was documented on YouTube by the Tesla Plaid Channel, adding to the excitement for fans of both electric and muscle cars.
The modern EV wins the race
Now it was time for the two rivals to hit the track.
A red light from the Barracuda handed an automatic win to the Tesla, however, the cars still continued with the drag race.
The Plaid ran the quarter-mile in 9.26 seconds at 150mph, while the Barracuda followed closely with 9.32 seconds at 148mph.
While the modern EV won, the Hellcat proved it was not a car to be taken lightly.
