This is the GFG Style Peralta S, a wedge-shaped Maserati one-off designed by Giugiaro.

How the GFG Style Peralta S came to lifeRemember when wedge-shaped cars were a thing?

The car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son, and it’s heavily inspired by the wedge-shaped supercars of the 1970s.

Namely, it draws inspiration from another wedge-shaped Maserati, the 1972 Maserati Boomerang, also designed by Giugiaro.

And you’d never guess what lies underneath.

How the GFG Style Peralta S came to life

The GFG Style Peralta S, which some people simply call the Maserati Peralta S, is a one-off supercar designed by a firm created by famed Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.

In the 1970s, Giugiaro designed the Maserati Boomerang, a concept car that never made it to production.

Over 50 years later, this incredible car is back in a modern form, made entirely out of mirror-polished aluminum.

Instead of using ‘normal’ doors, the Peralta S has a huge front-hinged canopy that extends upward, and it kind of looks like an old Lamborghini at the back.

However, it’s definitely 100 percent Maserati under the surface, because this car is based on the record-breaking Maserati MC20, and it uses the same 621HP, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as the MC20.

Remember when wedge-shaped cars were a thing?

Wedge-shaped supercars used to be a thing in the 1970s and 1980s.

Everyone had a go at it, from Honda to Maserati and even Aston Martin.

This particular design trend is more or less gone right now, but there’s still hope.

About a year ago, Honda brought back one of its iconic wedge-shaped vehicles in modern form.

Hopefully, others will follow suit.
