A Virginia-based car dealer with decades of experience has revealed his most reliable car – a $3,000 vehicle that he still trusts even with 249,000 miles on the clock.
Kenny, a dealer from Salem, Virginia, has been in this game for a long while, and it’s fair to say that he knows his onions.
Luckily for us, he shares his wealth of expertise on TikTok, where his @kennycompcars account has more than 100,000 followers.
When it comes to reliability, there’s one particular car that he’d trust even with a quarter-million miles on the odometer.

The most reliable car that this dealer has seen – and he’s seen a few
When it comes to buying cars, only some of us are looking for the fastest or the most luxurious.
The velvet robe that separates most people from the speed of a Bugatti, the comfort of a Rolls-Royce, or the in-your-face style of a Lamborghini is hard to get past.
So, when it comes to searching on Google, you’re more likely to be inputting something like ‘most reliable car’.
If you did, you might have ended up here, or on the account belonging to Kenny Martin.
Kenny has years in the business and has seen it all – from classic competition cars to rusted out scrapheap dodgers.
But, there’s one car that he believes is the most reliable car.
In this case, a 250,000-mile 2009 Honda Civic that – according to Kenny – ‘runs like a champ’.
Sure, it’s not a fancy car, it’s not the quickest or the smartest, but it’s ‘hard to kill’ and won’t let you down even after years of service.
In a recent TikTok video, Kenny opened: “What cars do I trust to sell on my used car lot that have very high mileage?
“Well, this is one of them.”
So, what can he tell us about this seemingly unremarkable 16-year-old car?
Well, when he picked it up, it had only one problem – the motor on the right front electric window was burned out.
An easy fix, for someone as experienced as Kenny.
“Now everything works in this car. It’ll be a good, cheap option for a customer on my car lot,” he said.
Honda Civic price
Not only has this Honda Civic served with distinction, but it’s easy on the wallet, too.
Kenny outlined the reasoning behind this low price during his video.
Once upon a time, Kenny needed a car for his son, and didn’t have much money to get one, until he found one sitting in a used car lot, very modestly priced.
“When my son was 15 years old, and I was looking for him…I didn’t have a lot of money,” Kenny explained.
“I got laughed at [for asking about $3,000 cars] but that was my budget.”
@kennycompcars What high mileage vehicles do I trust? This 2009 Honda Civic has what most people would consider very high miles! But with 249,000 miles, I’d trust this vehicle more than many newer, lower mileage cars. I will have this one at our dealership for sale soon! #usedcars #cardealership #carreview #carreviews #carsales #carsalesman #dealership #tiktokautocampaign #cartok #usedcar #usedcardealer #cardealer #carbuyingtips #hondacivic ♬ original sound –
He recognised that not everyone can buy a new car, or even a higher-priced second-hander, so he wants to be the guy who supports those who need a reliable car, and need one cheap.
That’s where this reliable old workhorse comes in.
Adding his final thoughts on the Honda, he said: “They’re hard to kill, man.”
After all, isn’t that really all we’re after in a car?
