After finding this military ‘Flying Banana’ helicopter in Nevada, one Utah man thinks he’s hit the jackpot – if he can get it home.

You’ve heard of banana boats, but what about a banana heli?

Well, this behemoth airborne vehicle is quite a force to be reckoned with, having been used by the US Air Force.

However, this Utah man found one abandoned and thinks he could be on to a small fortune if he can cart it across state borders.

Utah man finds abandoned Flying Banana helicopter

YouTube pairing Heavy D and Diesel Dave – aka HeavyDSparks – are experts when it comes to repurposing discarded military equipment.

Previously, they’ve found $475k worth of robotics and vehicles in one $30k crate.

Now, Heavy D has been back on the hunt for more goldmines. And this abandoned Flying Banana in Nevada appears to be his next.

It’s nicknamed the Flying Banana because of its unusual dipped-belly body. But its real name is the H21 Workhorse helicopter – and it was best known for being a heavy cargo transporter.

The YouTuber was buying defunct military equipment from a yard in Nevada, across the border from his native Utah, and came across the huge helicopter.

With an eye to turn it into a prospective food truck or small home for the right buyer, the only issue was transporting such a vehicle, as it definitely wouldn’t be flying anywhere.

However, the team boasted some serious equipment for big transports. So they quickly craned the heli out before loading it onto a huge truck.

The team also took two more single-propellor helicopters from the yard, as they planned a massive trip back to Utah.

Heavy D didn’t specify how much he’d spent, or what he hopes to achieve with its sale. But whether it be a cool makeshift home or business grounds, he believes it’ll recoup a ‘fortune’.

This isn’t the only time we’ve seen abandoned military vehicles be found. One exploration group previously came across an aircraft graveyard in a landscape void of humanity.
