UK’s incredible luxury personal electric aircraft is finally coming to America for the first time

UK-based aviation company SkyFly is set to bring its luxury personal electric aircraft, known as the Axe VCA (vertically capable aircraft), to the US for the first time.

The two-seater VCA is a perfect combination of luxury design with simplistic controls that ‘make flying as easy as driving’.

For the first time, the Axe VCA will be heading to the US in July for the AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The Axe VCA will go on display at the world’s largest airshow and might even take to the skies.

The electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) and VCA industry has really taken off in recent years.

Companies such as  Switzerland-based Dufour Aerospace, which has the Aero2 X2.3; and Chinese EV company XPeng with its AeroHT X2 ‘flying car’, are aiming to make personal flight more accessible than ever.

Skyfly, based in Oxfordshire in the UK, says its Axe VCA personal electric aircraft is ‘groundbreaking’ thanks to luxe design, intuitive controls, and a lower price point than you might expect.

The Axe VCA has a fully electric range of 100 miles (160km), up to 300 miles (482km) for the hybrid option.

The aircraft has sailed through numerous test flights and milestones in the UK and is now set to head to the US.

The Axe will be on display at the AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and its creators are even hoping to take to the skies, pending permit approval.

In a statement, Skyfly CEO Michael Thompson said he hopes the Axe VCA can make a ‘powerful statement’ by flying into the show for its first State-side appearance.

“I’m incredibly excited to be taking our aircraft to EAA AirVenture at Oshkosh – hands down the biggest airshow in the world,” said Michael Thompson, CEO, Skyfly.

“This is a milestone moment for our team and our technology. I’m even more proud to announce that, assuming we receive our experimental permit in time, the aircraft will be flying into the show.

“To not just be exhibiting but actually flying in means people will get to see the aircraft in action, not just on static display. It’s a powerful statement of how far we’ve come and where we’re headed.”
