Travis Scott once bought a Bugatti Chiron simply because he needed one for a music video.

The video, which dropped in 2019, featured a dark blue Bugatti Chiron that everyone thought was a rented car.

But it wasn’t.

Scott apparently decided to fork out $5 million for the car, and then he kept it in his (vast) collection

Why Travis Scott decided to buy a Bugatti for his video

The song was titled Gatti, as was the accompanying music video, which was released in December 2019.

It was written and performed by Travis Scott along with the late rapper Pop Smoke, who died just two months after the release of the music video.

The whole song was, at least in part, a tribute to Bugatti, and Travis Scott decided to flex his financial muscles by buying a Chiron instead of renting one.

“And I’m in that Bugatti […] I’m in the hood like an engine, revvin’. My checks is clearin’, your checks is pending,” Pop Smoke sang in the video.

Well, he was right, in a way, because Scott’s $5 million check to buy the Bugatti did clear on that occasion.

Also, as a side note, apart from the aforementioned dark blue Bugatti Chiron with the purple interior, the video also featured another Bugatti, an older Veyron in two-tone purple and black paint.

The unique thing about Travis Scott’s car collection

Travis Scott’s car collection stands out for one reason in particular.

He made some ‘predictable’ choices when putting together his collection – for example, he bought a Ferrari LaFerrari as well as the aforementioned Bugatti Chiron.

He also owns unusual vehicles, including a custom Ram TRX pick-up truck converted into something that looks like an apocalypse truck.

But the most peculiar thing about his collection is most of his vehicles are finished in mocha brown.

He’s obsessed with that color, and he used for nearly all of his cars.

Apart from his Bugatti, which was dark blue.

But hey, variety is the spice of life.
