Toyota C-HR is returning to America but it’s going to be different to what you remember

The Toyota C-HR is the brand’s answer to the burgeoning crossover SUV market.

Japan’s premier car marque first released the C-HR all the way back in 2016.

But now the C-HR is set for a return to sales in the American market.

And it’s going to be very different from the versions that came before.

Back in 2016, Toyota decided to get into the crossover SUV market early.

To this end, it released the C-HR – a compact, five-door crossover SUV.

Since 2020, the C-HR has been positioned between the Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross.

The second-generation C-HR saw its release in 2023, but availability is limited.

In fact, it has been entirely restricted to Europe and Australia for the past two years.

That limitation looks like it is about to change, however.

Because the C-HR is coming to America – again – and this time it’s very different.

Prior to being yanked from dealerships, the C-HR wasn’t exactly the most beloved offering.

Many people considered the performance and driving experience extremely dull and bland.

This new, incoming C-HR is so different that it is coming back on an all-EV platform. Which may surprise some people, given what the brand’s new chairman recently said about cars needing ‘fuel, sound, and soul’.

Furthermore, this new fastback crossover comes with 338HP, powered by a dual-motor setup.

According to reports, the incoming iteration will be able to accelerate from 0-60 in just five seconds.

That means that the new C-HR will out-accelerate the fan favourite GT86.

Those looking to buy the all-new C-HR only get the 338HP setup as an option.

It’s also only available with one battery option, which should be good for 290 miles of range. Which is good, but can it charge nearly 250 miles of range in just a few minutes, like one BYD model? Probs not.

Toyota’s renderings of the interior also happen to look very positive and modern.

Like most new offerings, a large, 14-inch touchscreen display appears to dominate the cabin.

There also appears to be several buttons strategically placed on the steering wheel.

It’s going to be very exciting to see what becomes of this new Toyota C-HR.

If it is as promising as it looks, then Toyota could have a big impact on the crossover EV market.
