In a nail-biting video, this C8 Corvette Stingray flew over 100 feet at Travis Pastrana’s dirt playground, and very stressfully, it nearly didn’t make it.
After winning fellow YouTuber Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom 500 event and receiving a brand new Corvette Z06, Travis Pastrana immediately sold it for a regular old C8 Corvette.
Pastrana decided to jump his basic C8 Corvette 110 feet over a gulf between two ramps in his dirt playground – a stunt that a regular Stingray has never been able to pull off.
After making sure his Stingray was sufficiently star-spangled, it was now up to him to get the correct approach speed down; otherwise, the jump could end in total disaster.

When you win a brand new Corvette Z06 in Cleetus McFarland’s iconic Freedom 500 event, you naturally immediately sell it to buy a Corvette C8.
Travis Pastrana from the Channel 199 YouTube channel did exactly that. He decided that his Z06 wouldn’t fare as well as a regular old Stingray in his next big plan for a Corvette stunt.
In the dirt playground he owns, there are two ramps opposite each other.
They’re on either side of a shallow 110-foot-wide gulf, which he decided would be the perfect stage for a never-before-seen stunt.
He wanted to jump a Corvette Stingray five or six car lengths.
In the spirit of the Freedom 500, the YouTuber hastily spray-painted his C8 with stars and stripes, ready to achieve the momentous feat.
@jim_york I got to jump a Corvette a 110’ with my crew from @channel 199 #channel199 #americanstuntsociety #c8 #corvette thank you @Travis Pastrana for the opportunity! #cleetusmcfarland #simpsonraceproducts #goodboyvodka ♬ The Dukes of Hazzard – The Sonora’s Tucson Band
Getting the approach speed right was the most important part of the whole stunt, because if he approached too slowly, it wouldn’t make the jump. But going too fast meant it could crash land.
When it came time for the jump, the only man for the job was stuntman Jim York. Hen approached the ramp along a bumpy, winding track at 70MPH. It was so bumpy that the airbag actually deployed.
The team waited with bated breath, watching the Chevy fly over the jump… And after a worrying couple of seconds where it looked as though it wouldn’t make it, the rear just about cleared the ramp – albeit clumsily.
The relief was palpable.
So Travis, Jim, and the team did it! What’s next in their journey of pushing cars to their absolute limits?
