One luxury car brand has unveiled its new Baby, called Bugatti Baby II, inspired by the new Tourbillon hypercar.

The story behind the Bugatti BabyWhat’s it for?

This cute little toy only weighs 230 kilograms and is powered by electricity.

It may be small, but it isn’t cheap.

Then again we can’t really expect anything that says this brand’s name on it to be cheap, can we?

The story behind the Bugatti Baby

One of the most expensive toy cars ever made, ‘Baby’ is a name the automaker used on more than one occasion for a series of small cars designed by the luxury car brand in partnership with the aptly named ‘Little Car Company’.

It’s powered by electricity and it doesn’t produce much power, but it doesn’t need it anyway, considering it only weighs 230 kilograms.

Most Baby models, including this one, are inspired by the original Bugatti Type 35, a mythological race car launched by the historic brand in 1924.

This one also pays homage to the German brand’s latest hypercar, the Tourbillon, although to be brutally honest, it’s unclear how it does that because there aren’t any visual cues.

What’s it for?

Like all Baby models, the Baby II Tourbillon Edition isn’t road-legal so can’t be driven on the road.

It was designed with collectors – and kids – in mind.

The idea is you can buy one and drive it around the property, on the assumption that the average collector probably also owns a property that’s vast enough to justify using a vehicle around it.

The price of the new Baby II hasn’t been revealed yet, but the last model before this one cost north of $70,000.

So we can safely expect a hefty premium for the Tourbillon Edition, making it de-facto more expensive than a long list of sportscars.
