The University of Connecticut has modified toy cars to give children with disabilities new found freedom

Engineering and Doctor of Physical Therapy students at the University of Connecticut have collaborated on a new project that give children with disabilities new found freedom using modified ride-on toy cars.

The cars are battery-powered and are modified so that the children can control the vehicles independently, giving them a chance to play and better interact with their peers.

The cars are matched to the individual needs of each child, so they can be controlled differently depending on whether it’s easier for the child to control it using their head or their hand.

The project is sweetly named Go Baby Go and when you see pictures of the happy kids in their cars, it’s almost guaranteed to bring a tear to even the most stoic of eyes.

In one of the sweetest projects ever, Engineering and Doctor of Physical Therapy students at the University of Connecticut have collaborated on a new project called Go Baby Go.

Go Baby Go is a project creating modified toy car gadgets for disabled children to give them their freedom and socialization back.

Each car is customized to the individual child and their personal mobility.

The students have been split into three teams: an electrical team, a construction team and a design team, and their hard work has already paid off.

Children have already received their toy cars and have more mobility and chances to socialize with their peers, in places like school and the park.

The Go Baby Go project wants to get these modified toy cars to as many children as they can so they can not only have a new-found freedom, but also miles of smiles.
