This Scandinavian driving test video that went viral and horrified people has finally been explained.
Internet users were left stunned after footage was released of a learner driving going down a slippery road.
Driving tests are nerve-wracking enough, but this clip took that fear to a whole new level.
And the explanation behind it won’t do much to settle any pre-test jitters.

No matter how much you love cars, you have to admit that driving tests are pretty scary.
Getting to the test can be enough of a nailbiter as it is.
One driving instructor took to setting up a dash cam to film her students’ riskiest blunders.
The most common mistake this instructor noticed was students rushing to get to the end.
Which is understandable, right?
When you’re doing something so stressful, you want to get it over and done with.
At least it wasn’t quite as terrifying as what happened to this teacher, who was pranked by a pro-driver pretending to be a learner.
But that hair-raising experience was a walk in the park compared to what learners in Scandinavian countries have to put up with.
A video from Sweden went viral online, in which a driver was shown heading down a slippery road as part of their test.
This particular part of the test is called ‘Risk 2’, in which the practical element of driving is pushed to the limit.
The examiner wants to see if the learner can handle themselves well in any circumstance, no matter what the surrounding environment is like.
And you know what those Nordic countries can be like – very cold, prone to icy roads.
So it seems reasonable that this would be on the test.
In the clip that drew in big viewing figures on social media, cars are seen skidding along a slippery surface.
It looks pretty terrifying, but the drivers all seem to handle themselves pretty well.
Admittedly, anything short of the car flipping over would be considered a moderate success.
It’s a tough test, and the pass statistics speak for themselves.
Of the 292,034 practical driving tests undertaken in Sweden in 2024, only 45 percent resulted in a pass, according to korkortonline.
So that’s 55 percent failure.
By way of comparison, the failure rate in the US was 35 percent, although there were some variations by states.
Even so, the state with the highest failure rate – Indiana with 51 percent – was still lower than Sweden.
So count your lucky stars that you’re not behind the wheel of a car in a Scandinavian driving test.
