The only plant in the world that is still producing Chrysler Pacifica vehicles is being forced to shut down for a while.
Thanks to the effects of President Trump’s new tariffs, Chrysler owner Stellantis has announced that it will be shutting some factories down for a few weeks.
The company is already in a tricky position, and it could force them to cease production of their Pacifica van. The Pacifica is currently the main product made by the company.
So, any halt in production could lead to serious issues further down the line.

Chrysler could suffer at the hands of the new tarriffs
The first quarter of 2025 has already been bad for Chrysler, and the tariffs could make things worse.
Stellantis as a whole had a bad first quarter, with its sales dropping by 12 percent throughout that period.
That saw a drop of 332,540 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2024 to 293,225 in 2025.
Regarding the shutdown of some of its plants, Stellantis said: “Immediate actions we must take include temporarily pausing production at some of our Canadian and Mexican assembly plants.”
Canada has been hit particularly hard by the tariffs, making things even worse for Chrysler.
Its Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, is the last factory in the world still producing Chryslers.
Production may only be halted for a couple of weeks
There is a small glimmer of hope, however with the shutdown expected to be short.
Stellantis is hoping that production will recommence on April 21st, which means just a two-week shutdown.
With the Pacifica currently the only Chrysler product in production, it will be a relief to employees that the shutdown is brief.
The Pacifica, however, will be subjected to the new tariffs once production recommences.
That will seriously hurt imports of the car into the United States, and affect the automotive industry as a whole.
If the impact of the tariffs is severe enough, the company may not survive beyond the next couple of years.
Stellantis is planning to create a long-term plan to deal with them.
However, many may still lose their jobs as a result of the tariffs.
