A lot more expensive.

The interesting reason Cadillac calls this the ‘IQL’

This sleek machine is called the IQL for two reasons.

The first is because ‘IQ’ is the nameplate the American automaker is using for its electric vehicles, such as the LirIQ or the CelestIQ.

Secondly, the ‘L’ in the name just stands for ‘long’, which this car definitely is.

The new IQL is 4.2 inches longer than before, which means it is now 228.5 inches, or 5.8 meters, from nose to tail.

Inside, in addition to the extra legroom – and seven seats – you get a massive 55-inch pillar-to-pillar display at the front and, as an optional extra, 12.6-inch displays for the rear passengers.

You also get Super Cruise, Cadillac’s semi-autonomous driving system.

It’s fast, and it has plenty of torque

Tech-wise, the 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQL has a 205kWh battery pack, which translates to 460 miles – or 740km – of range, and two motors, one at the front and one at the rear, making it all-wheel drive.

The IQL is also capable of producing up to 750HP and 785lb-ft of torque, and it does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.

The automaker hasn’t quoted a top speed, but considering the size 0f the IQL and the fact it’s electric, it probably won’t be very high.

Electric cars are quick off the line but the top speed is generally lower than in equivalent gas models.

For reference, the ‘old’ IQ had a top speed of just over 200km/h.

And here’s another number that’s worth mentioning: the IQL can tow up to 7,500lbs – or3,402kg – which means it can very nearly match what the Ram 2500 or the Cybertruck can do.

Cadillac

The Escalade has never been cheap, especially the all-electric model, but this new IQL redefines what ‘not being cheap’ means.

It starts at $132,695.

Looks like we’d better start saving…
