Footage shared online shows the automated cab making its way around the testing facility and interacting with traffic.

The gold-colored EV can be seen driving along one of the testing site’s private roads and stopping behind a parked bus.

Ever-ambitious Tesla boss Elon Musk has previously revealed he hopes to be producing ‘at least two million’ units every year.

The Cybercab was unveiled last month

The eagerly anticipated Cybercab – or ‘robotaxi’ – was unveiled at the Tesla We, Robot event back in October.

Tesla boss Elon Musk made a grand entrance to the event by leaving a movie-set theatre, hailing a Cybercab on his phone, and hopping in.

The event gave us our first look at the automated taxi, which has angular bodywork reminiscent of the Cybertruck and ‘butterfly’ doors.

While the outside looks typically Tesla, the inside is very minimalistic, featuring no steering wheel or pedals, just one display on the dash, and plenty of room for two people to ride in comfort.

During the event, Musk revealed that the automated vehicles would be available to buy and would most likely cost less than $30,000.

Now, the Cybercab is being put through its paces at Giga Texas, with clips shared online showing the EV riding around the test facility.

As well as reacting to traffic, the EV is reportedly also going through additional testing, including a water ingress test via a rainmaker onsite at the facility.

In a Q3 2024 earnings call, Musk said Tesla is expecting to enter volume production of the Cybercab in 2026.

And it seems as though the company may already be gearing up for that.

In a clip shared by JoeTegtmeyer on X, he notes that you can see ‘a large amount of production equipment deliveries’ that will be assembled inside the factory and likely be used for Cybercab production.

Exciting stuff.
