Tesla finally rolled out FSD for its pick-up truck, the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck is by far the most talked-about Tesla model, and FSD, full-self driving, is the company’s best-known feature.

So this is long overdue.

It took (nearly) a year but they got there in the end.

It took a long time

The Cybertruck was unveiled nearly a year ago, in November 2023, and about two seconds after the launch, Tesla fans and owners began asking the question about FSD.

The thing is, the other four road cars Tesla makes – Model Y, S, 3 and X – all look ‘normal’, whereas Cybertruck adopts a completely different design.

FSD needs to take several factors into account, but it uses a combination of sensors to avoid collisions.

It was easier to fit FSD to normal-looking vehicles, but it was a bit more difficult to do that with a vehicle with the weird shapes, proportions and size of the Cybertruck.

How does Tesla’s FSD work on the Cybertruck?

Full Self-Driving, usually simply called FSD, is Tesla’s Level 4 self-driving feature, which allows Teslas to drive themselves in pretty much every scenario you can think of.

Put simply, it can do anything and everything a human driver can do, including the things you sort of shouldn’t do.

A while back, somebody filmed a self-driving Tesla casually sneaking to the front of huge left turn queue.

But jokes aside, it works really well.

The internet is awash with videos of Tesla vehicles seamlessly navigating complex scenarios such as construction sites or sometimes even parking themselves with FSD.

By the way, Tesla is working on a dedicated FSD button for its cars, so in the future it should also become easier to activate it.
