A Tesla Cybertruck driver went viral after she was turned away from a Los Angeles car wash.

Courtney Ferris shared a video to TikTok in which she speculated on the reason for the ban.

As she filmed the sign prohibiting Cybertrucks, she wondered aloud: “Is it because they’re too big? Or look like a dumpster?”

Many people had their own theories and explanations.

Courtney’s video racked up more than 400,000 views on TikTok and attracted a ton of comments.

One person commented: “A lot of car washes refuse cyber trucks.”

Another offered: “They break and are insurance liabilities.”

Many viewers suggested that Cybertrucks were liable to be damaged by the water in a car wash.

But obviously, anybody can say anything on the internet so it’s always worth verifying information.

What does Tesla’s own website say on the matter?

They said: “Tesla does not recommend taking Cybertruck through an automatic car wash.”

As an alternative, the company urged drivers to use ‘isopropyl alcohol wipes’ to clean away small stains.

There is also a ‘Car Wash Mode’ that can be activated when visiting a car wash.

Tesla warned: “‘Failure to put Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers).

“Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty.”

How do Cybertrucks usually fare when it comes to water?

Since its release in 2023, the Cybertruck has been put through its paces in various water situations.

A video did the rounds earlier this year showing one driving through extremely high levels of water.

Now You Know

Another Cybertruck took to water using ‘Wade Mode’, which provides the driver with messages reminding them about the car’s warranty.

Essentially, it’s invalidated if you take the car off-road, which is the case with entering a body of water.

Taking any car into water is never a particularly advisable move, and it seems even a car wash can prove too risky for some cars.
