Pickup trucks are often covered cars
From hoods to wheels, sometimes project trucks take inspiration from other autos in the car sphere.
Take this Corvette C8 for example, that was transformed into the world’s fastest food truck. Another creative dude also transformed the beam.ng Ibishu Pigeon car into a tiny monster truck.
Some modifications can mean a permit is needed, though. So it’s a good job that this special pickup safely avoids that requirement.
Meet the Goat Atlas APC tactical truck
“Yes, it’s legal. No you don’t need a special permit. Even in California,” states the Facebook listing for the $395,000 vehicle.
As you’d imagine, for that price, it’s had some beastly modifications.
The truck is actually registered as and based on a 2023 Ford F-550 chassis, and is available in a list of colors, and comes with a B6 ballistic rating.
“The ATLAS APC is the Civilian Variant of a current generation Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) being used in active combat zones around the globe.
“It has one mission: Safely transport its occupants and cargo to the destination, no matter the threat,” states Goat itself.
There are endless customization options
The 2024 truck comes with two protection levels: the standard B6 armour, which includes three forms of protection, and a B7 option that includes a high-power protection tool too.
When it comes to fitting people in the truck, the standard configuration allows three seats in the front and six more in the back, thanks to large benches.
Goat even says extra additional threat protection is available, with floor and fuel tank protection, armor overlap, and HD hinges on the doors, too.
Inside, it’s also impressive, as the ‘Ford F550 chassis means the truck will feel familiar as soon as you get behind the wheel. Seating, steering wheel, HVAC, and radio controls remain,’ explains the manufacturer.
