Select Waffle House locations across America are getting fast chargers for EVs

Dozens of Waffle House locations in the US are getting fitted with fast chargers for EVs powered by BP Pulse – so your car can fill on power, while you fill up on waffles.

The new chargers will be introduced to several cities across the South of the country, including Texas, Georgia, and Florida.

Each site will be given six ultrafast EV charging bays equipped with 400kW DC fast chargers and both CCS and NACS connectors.

The first sites are set to go live next year.

As more and more people make the switch from gas-powered vehicles to EVs, the need for charging stations is on the grow.

In California, there are currently more EV chargers than gas stations, while Tesla’s Supercharger network is rolling through the US at a pace.

BP Pulse

Now, BP Pulse and Waffle House have announced a joint venture to bring EV fast-chargers to their venues in the South.

The new partnership is another step towards BP Pulse’s goal of building a ‘robust network’ of ultrafast chargers in the US.

“Adding an iconic landmark like Waffle House to our growing portfolio of EV charging sites is such an exciting opportunity,” said BP Pulse CEO Sujay Sharma.

“As an integrated energy company, BP is committed to providing efficient solutions like ultrafast charging to support our customers’ mobility needs.

“We’re building a robust network of ultrafast chargers across the country, and this is another example of third-party collaborations enabling access to charging co-located with convenient amenities for EV drivers.”

Waffle House

For now, it’s unclear how many Waffle House locations will be getting the charging stations, but there are more than 2,000 Waffle Houses across 25 states.

The restaurant chain, which operates 24/7, has branded the move ‘a perfect option’ for its customers.

“Waffle House is thrilled to collaborate with BP Pulse to offer our customers a safe, well-lit and welcoming place to enjoy good food fast any time of day,” said Waffle House director of innovation David Repp.

“Charging up while fueling up on an All-Star Special will be convenient and fast – a perfect option for enjoying the Waffle House experience while charging your EV on the go.”
