Everyone seems to be obsessed with it despite the fact it was one of more than 705,000 Impalas produced that year.

Why everyone wants this Chevrolet Impala SS
1962 was a great year for the Impala, because it was the best-selling car of the year in the U.S.
It’s been over 60 years so some of those vehicles have either been lost or destroyed since.
But, even so, the 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS is the one that people often want and, in this case, it’s because of the V8 engine under the hood.
This one, according to its owner, features a brand-new 454 crate engine paired with an automatic transmission, and it’s only done 1,000 miles.
The 454 V8 engine, which was also used for other Chevy models, comes from the era of Chevy big-block V8s named after their cubic capacity.
The 454 V8 engine has a capacity of 454 cubic inches, equivalent to 7.4 liters, which is not even close to the biggest engine they’ve produced, that’d be the 632 (10.4-liter), but it’s one of the most sought-after.
This explains why the seller of this car is receiving so much love (and offers) on eBay, despite the fact the car isn’t exactly in museum condition.

The interesting thing about the Impala is you can find examples that command tens of thousands of dollars in the market, and others that are given away for free.
And yet, this doesn’t seem to harm the car’s popularity in any way.
