We all know planes have safety features, but an open window is something that you hardly ever see.

But one pilot decided to explain all and got real when discussing where the windows were located.

Plus, he revealed his unique use of the glass feature, and it’s not what you’d expect.

It’s a question we all wonder, but never have answered: Do plane windows open?

To break down the rumors once and for all, one pilot took to the internet to explain the details.

“Well, in fact, there are two windows that do open on the airplane, they’re both up here in the cockpit,” YouTuber and pilot, Captain Steeve, revealed.

The windows are actually located so that each pilot has one each, which is quite handy when you think about it.

Captain Steeve also explained how one huge handle opens the windows, too.

The pilot said: “This is not an ‘oh Jesus’ handle, it’s actually the thing that holds the window locked.”

“Now, why do we have an opening window? I’m not 100 percent sure, but it sure comes in handy when you go through the drive-thru,” he joked.

Let’s face it, the pilot was tackling the question that we all want to know, and in a humorous way.

But he’s not the first pilot to explain the details that leave us puzzled when travelling.

In fact, one pilot sat down and explained why you don’t need to be worried about turbulence, in an attempt to break the stigma.

But users were tickled by the window explanation online after the Captain spilled all the details.

“Wasn’t expecting that for sure,” said one user.

“The reason why there is a window: if the exit door is stuck and pilots are trapped, they can escape using windows,” explained another user.

“Good one, Captain Steve,” said another person.
