That’s exactly what happened to this Tesla driver.

As expected, it left everyone online completely baffled.

When probed about the bill, the Tesla owner revealed exactly how they worked the system to keep it so low.

A Tesla bill that left everyone shocked

The owner, who goes by the username Tesla_GTownTX on X, shared the bill with the caption, “First time I’ve had a bill within the last 12 months. This sucks.”

While the comment was clearly a joke, the bill itself was no laughing matter – it was impressively low.

Their electricity bill for the Tesla for the entire year was just $2.37 (£1.89). Yep, you read that right.

While we’ve seen incredibly low EV bills, like this man who shared an average bill of $66 for 559kWh, this $2.37 bill is on a different level.

The secret behind the ultra-low-cost

Now you might wonder how this guy managed to cut down his electricity bill to this extent.

Well, the secret behind the tiny bill was the combination of solar panels and a Powerwall.

For those unaware, the Powerwall is a high-tech rechargeable battery that stores solar energy or electricity from the grid.

This allows the owner to use stored energy instead of pulling power from the grid, keeping costs incredibly low.

However, installing solar panels and a Powerwall doesn’t come cheap, with prices ranging between £5,000 and £10,000.

So, while the bill was cheap, the Tesla owner’s initial costs were anything but.

What People Are Saying About It

One person compared the bill to their friend’s whose bill was $600, putting the low number into perspective.

Someone else asked him how much he originally payed for those solar arrays and the Powerwall.

Meanwhile, others were impressed, saying they were keen to introduce solar panels now too.

It seems the driver’s clever setup is proof that investing in renewable energy can pay off – literally.
