One Tesla Model Y was captured completing its journey from the GigaFactory in Texas to the house of its new owner.

But this wasn’t just any delivery – it was all completed fully autonomously in a first for the company.

However, an awkward detail arose when the car got to its final destination.

Tesla’s first autonomous home delivery had an awkward detail hidden

Tesla recently ticked a big project off its list and completed the first autonomous home delivery of a Model Y.

The event took place in Texas, where the Gigafactory is based.

In a video shared by Tesla online, the car can be seen driving itself on a journey across the streets of the US to land in the capable hands of its new owner.

The company itself captioned the video: “This Tesla drove itself from Gigafactory Texas to its new owner’s home ~30min away crossing parking lots, highways & the city to reach its new owner.”

But, for all the greatness that occurred, with no human behind the wheel of the car, there was an awkward detail that showed itself near the end of the video.

You see, the Tesla stopped in an area that said ‘NO PARKING FIRE LANE’ before the new driver got behind the wheel of the shiny new ride.

It is very important to note, however, that Tesla could have actually managed to gain permission for this to take place when filming the monumental moment.

The delivery is a big step towards the future in the EV world, with other manufacturers potentially aiming to follow suit.

Tesla is a dominating force in the EV world

The company has an extensive fleet of EVs, from the ever-talked-about Cybertruck to the Model 3.

Eager car enthusiasts often put the cars to the test to see if the EVs are all that they’re cracked up to be, like this guy, for instance, who tested two identical Tesla Model 3s to see which had better efficiency and range.

Plus, the company even has a Robotaxi that was recently launched, and surprised LA drivers with a bizarre windshield wiper trick.

For now, though, check out Tesla’s first autonomous delivery below.
