Richard Mille unveiled a new watch, the first one since Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari.

It’s called the RM 42-01, available in TPT Carbon or titanium, and it costs more than an actual Ferrari car.

Production is limited to 150 pieces in total.

But you need seven figures to get one.

The first RM designed for Lewis Hamilton

Richard Mille has a long-standing partnership with both McLaren and Ferrari, and this is the second new timepiece unveiled specifically for Ferrari after the ultra-thin, record-breaking one launched about three years ago.

More to the point, it’s the first one designed for Ferrari now that Lewis Hamilton has joined the team.

It’s a split-second chronograph powered by a tourbillon, with a 70-hour power reserve that’s available in two different materials.

The Carbon TPT model has a total weight of only 85 grams, while the model that combines Carbon TPT and titanium weighs 96.5 grams.

For reference, Carbon TPT is a carbon fiber-based material developed and patented by Richard Mille.

It all sounds great, apart from the price.

Production is limited to 75 pieces for each model, and you need $1.3 million for the titanium one and around $1.5 million for the carbon model.

That makes this watch more expensive than most new Ferraris, aside from the Daytona SP3 and the Monza SP2.

About Richard Mille

Richard Mille was founded in 2001, which, in the world of watches, was basically yesterday.

Richard Mille went up like a bottle rocket in this very competitive market, mostly due to the brand’s highly technical pieces.

The company also pioneered a unique marketing strategy no one had ever thought of before.

Before RM came along, athletes would wear watches on the podium after the match or the race.

With RM, athletes wear the watch during the actual game.

Rafa Nadal won countless tournaments and trophies with an RM on his wrist, and Felipe Massa was wearing an RM during his (in)famous accident in 2009.

Massa made a full recovery after the accident, and we’re certainly glad about that, but the crazy part was the RM he was wearing during the crash emerged from the accident completely unscathed.
