A brand new Ford EV feature, which has been announced to be landing on every electric car that they manufacture moving forward, is truly groundbreaking for customers making the green switch.

One of the biggest drawbacks in making the switch from petrol or hybrid to fully electric cars is charging admin.

Battery life, a fight for charging stations, and how to charge when at home are all big concerns for folk who are so used to dipping into the local petrol station before a short trip or the nearest Costco for a full tank.

However, Ford is trying its hardest to alleviate this pressure and its groundbreaking new EV feature could spark an industry-wide change.

New Ford EV feature will bring home charger installations to all customers

Ford has announced that it will be giving all new EV customers a free home charger kit and installation in a bid to overcome charging woes.

The manufacturing giants broke the news last month, as they also confirmed that the new buyers will get access to a 24/7 emergency line for any roadside assistance

There is a slight hitch though: this deal for Ford is for a trial period, with the offer set to expire on January 2, 2025.

Still, there is hope that it will become permanent.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said: “If this works, we’ll no doubt extend it, but we have to prove ourselves it works.

“I obviously never had the chance to talk to Mr. Ford, but I can imagine that when he launched the Model T, he would have loved to have included a gas station for every customer.”

Charging electric cars is always a worry, and it’s even pushed people to try and make their own solar-powered chargers so they can have unlimited range.

Ford calls for more EV incentives

Shortly after this promotion went live, Ford called for more incentives for people to get electric cars, especially in the UK.

The company has joined a list of many manufacturers who want governments to stop forcing them to produce EV cars without having homes to go to.

Instead, incentives such as this new charging port installation would help more car buyers choose to go green and live up to the mandate that is forced upon the designers.

There remains a lot of ‘charger anxiety’ according to Farley, but hopefully, they can continue to convince new customers to chop down their carbon footprint with the new Ford EV feature.

As well as anxiety around power, an Oklahoma man bought the ‘cheapest Tesla in America’ for $5,000 but repairing meant it turned out to be less of a bargain than he’d thought.
