Pilot’s first hometown landing
Mona Ghandour is the proud mother to Emirates pilot Kay Hamdan, who landed an Emirates 777 plane for the first time in his hometown – with a very emotional audience present.
Mona shared a video on Instagram of her crying as she watched her son land the plane at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport after climbing the barbed wire to catch a glimpse of him pulling off the landing.
And the video has since gone viral.
Beirut boy to Emirates pilot
Alongside the heartwarming video, Mona wrote that her son’s landing was ‘as smooth as butter’, and she wasn’t wrong, especially as in the video you can hear the high winds he had to deal with during his landing.
While it might be a bit embarrassing for the young pilot that his mom’s emotional social media post went so viral, he nailed the landing, so he should be relieved, especially given how many eyes were on him.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen a pilot do something in the air to spread some happiness.
There was also the time this pilot shared a photo of him with his infant son in the cockpit, then recreated the picture years later when his son also became a pilot.
There’s nothing quite like flying home to see your parents, and this Emirates pilot certainly did it with style.
