Clone Robotics has shared new footage of its scarily realistic humanoid robot as it flexes 1,000 ‘muscles’.
The robotics startup unveiled its Protoclone robot earlier this year.
The company says the humanoid bot is the ‘most anatomically accurate android in the world’.
Now the company has shared a new video in which the Protoclone can be seen stretching its muscles – and it’s a little bit creepy.

There’s been a boom within the robotics industry in recent years, with many companies working on humanoid robots – like Tesla with its Optimus bot or this Unitree Robotics one that can pull off some impressive kung fu moves.
Clone Robotics caused a bit of a stir back in February when the company shared a video of the Protoclone with its ‘muscles twitching’.
“Protoclone, the world’s first bipedal, musculoskeletal android,” the company said on X alongside a video of the bot hanging from the ceiling.
In the clip, the robot can be seen flailing its legs back and forth – and the whole thing was a little bit Black Mirror.
The company says its robot has 200 degrees of freedom, 1,000 Myofibers, and 500 sensors so that it can perfectly mimic lifelike muscles and function – and a new clip uploaded online showcases all of that in action.
In the clip, the robot’s ‘face’ is covered by a black mask and it can be seen flexing various ‘muscle groups’ in sequence.
The advanced bot has ‘muscles’ and a ‘skeleton’
Clone Robotics refers to its bot as a‘ bipedal android companion’ on its website, where the company also explains how the ‘muscular system’ works.
“The Clone’s muscular system animates the skeleton thanks to Clone’s revolutionary artificial muscle technology Myofiber pioneered by Clone in 2021, which actuates natural animal skeletons by attaching each musculotendon unit to the anatomically accurate points on the bones,” Clone Robotics says.
Alongside its ‘muscles’, the robot has a ‘skeletal system’ with 206 ‘bones’ to match the human body; and a ‘nervous system’ made up of cameras and pressure sensors that allow the bot to ‘see’ and ‘feel’.
As you might imagine, the new clip, which has racked up more than nine million views, has left folks feeling divided.
Some are impressed by how far the technology has come, while others – well, they’re a bit scared.
“You had the option to not make an android look like a demon and here we are,” one X user joked.
“Positively nightmarish, thanks for sharing,” added a second.
