Brian S. makes big bucks as a TV producer in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean he’s a big spender.

So when it came time for him to get a new car, he knew he wanted a Tesla but not to spend Tesla prices.

Therefore, he opted to get the least expensive one around – a Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus.

Why this millionaire opted to be frugal with his new Tesla

It’s often assumed that those with big bank accounts would want to enjoy the priciest things in life.

Celebrities are often looked at as proof of this.

Shaquille O’Neal once purchased three Rolls-Royces just because a salesman rubbed him up the wrong way.

However, for Brian splashing the cash wasn’t on his agenda.

That being said, he’s been open about his love for new gadgets and cars.

As reported by Yahoo News, he said: “I’ve been fascinated by electric cars for years.

“Tesla, in particular, caught my eye because, and I know this sounds cheesy, but they’re not just making electric cars — they’re changing how we think about driving.”

When it came time to get a new set of wheels, Brian opted for the Model 3, the cheapest car on offer by Tesla.

On average, these cars go for about $50,000.

By way of comparison, the Model S can cost up to $173,000.

He said: “It still has all the important features, but without the extra fancy stuff that I don’t really need.”

For him, it’s not about speed or flashiness.

He just wanted a practical daily driver like most people do.

Brian commented: “People often think millionaires always buy the most expensive things.

“But, hello, many of us got rich by being smart with our money.”

Before committing to the decision, Brian did some number crunching to ensure he was getting good value for more.

He discovered that a Tesla would save him $5,000 on gas compared to his old car.

This isn’t the first time that Tesla owners have opened up about their savings, which they have accumulated through sharing charging costs.

Fortunately, he’s not experiencing any buyer’s remorse like this owner who invested in the ‘cheapest Tesla in America’.

He said: “It’s smooth, quiet and feels very high-tech. It’s honestly a joy to drive.

“The range is actually better than I expected. I can go about 250 miles on a full charge, which is more than enough for my daily needs.”

Brian believes that he’s learned something important about money as a result.

He said: “Not to be too corny about it but being wealthy isn’t about buying the most expensive thing just because you can.

“It’s about making smart choices with your money, no matter how much you have.”
