Teslas are often the vehicle that most people think of when the term EV is mentioned.

The manufacturer has achieved many milestones in its time and has even taken one of its fleet intergalactic, which is one of the reasons that Tesla is so well known amongst gearheads.

In fact, the company’s first-ever Robotaxi is set to hit the streets of Austin this month, which could change the taxi world.

Plus, Tesla was also spotted testing a never-before-seen prototype, and it got some people thinking that it could be its new affordable EV.

With owning an electric vehicle, though, comes the cost of charging, even though the process of buying and getting gas is no longer relevant.

So, to give other EV enthusiasts an idea of how much it costs to charge a Tesla versus what he used to pay for gas, YouTuber Dirty Tesla revealed all in a sit-down chat online – and the savings were pretty big.

“I used to pay $150 a month for gas, and that was in a Ford Focus, so I was in a pretty fuel-efficient car,” he explained.

“I am now paying $50 a month, approximately, to charge my Model 3 to go the same distance,” he continued.

Of course, there are factors to think about, like company rates, and the YouTuber decided to break down his bills per month, estimating that $50 of his electricity is spent on the car.

“I personally have savings of around $100 a month just in fuel costs, not counting any other maintenance savings with an electric car.,” he explained.

He also shared that you can expect to pay 30-50% on electricity, versus your gas costs.

Tesla has a clever method of charging cars called the Supercharging network, which charges cars a lot quicker than standard home chargers.

And, thanks to referral codes, he saved money on that, too.

Overall, it’s clear to see that he saved a lot of cash on charging alone.
