This is the new Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Golden Coast, a limited-edition roadster with only 100 units planned.
Mercedes didn’t say it openly, but this AMG SL 63 draws its inspiration from the Golden Coast in California.
But no worries if you’re not a resident of the Golden State, because the SL 63 will be available worldwide.
The price hasn’t been revealed yet, but it won’t be cheap.

A Mercedes roadster inspired by the Golden Coast
Based on the SL 63, the Golden Coast is painted in Kalahari Gold Magno, a type of matte gold finish specifically inspired by sandy beaches.
The rest of the car follows a black-on-gold theme, with 21-inch AMG Forged wheels in black with Kalahari Gold Magno rim flanges, black brake calipers and black accents throughout.
The cabin follows the same color theme, with black leather upholstery with gold stitching, and everything else is also black, apart from some trim elements on the seats, door panels and center console.
The engine is the same 4.0-liter V8 biturbo as the ‘standard’ model, delivering 577 horsepower and 590lb-ft of torque, giving it a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds.
The price hasn’t been shared by the automaker yet, but the SL 63 starts at $113,000, so we can safely predict a huge premium on that MSRP.
An ubiquitous engine
This V8 powers several different Mercedes models across their line-up, and even some Astons.
Among others, the 4.0-liter V8 with two turbos is what you’d find under the engine of most ’63’ models, including the G-Wagen and the Maybach GLS.
They even use it in some Brabus models, including the Rocket 900.
More importantly, this engine is the ‘heart’ of a long list of Aston Martin models.
From the DBX707 to the Valhalla, several Astons use variations of this powertrain.
