McLaren has said it has ‘taken risks’ with its 2025 Formula One car as it sets its sights on an F1 title double.

McLaren secured its first F1 constructors’ title in more than two decades during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

However, driver Lando Norris missed out on a driver’s crown with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen taking home the title.

But looking to next season, it seems McLaren is keen to rack up another title and isn’t afraid to take some risks to get there.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took place earlier this month, with Supercar Blondie – aka Alex Hirschi – one of the lucky attendees.

It was the first time since 1998 that McLaren has scooped an F1 constructor’s title after narrowly beating Ferrari.

With this win securely under its belt, McLaren is looking to the future when it comes to the design and development of its next F1 car.

“We’re going into next year at full strength,” McLaren CEO Zak Brown told Motorsport.

“I think we’re in a different mindset now in terms of the confidence of the team and the amount of bravery that the team is prepared to take in the development in next year’s car.

“The team is not: ‘let’s just tweak a little here and there. The car is pretty good.’ We’ve got some stuff on next year’s car that is like ‘brave risk’.

Brown went on to say that there’s been a whole mindset shift when it comes to the team’s ambitions.

“I think you only get to the front if you try and beat everyone, as opposed to the mindset when we started this year which was like ‘let’s just be as good as them’,” he said.

“The mind shift is now: ‘Let’s beat everyone.’”

A very solid mindset, to be fair.

Brown says the only way for the team to fight off the stiff competition in Formula One from Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes is to ‘out-develop, out-drive and out-strategize’ them.

The CEO made his bold ambitions clear, telling the publication that he wants to ‘win the drivers’ and constructors’ world championships’.

So watch this space, because it could be a very exciting year for F1 in 2025.
