Max Verstappen is, arguably, the best Formula 1 driver of his generation.

The reigning F1 world champion currently drives for the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team.

Formula 1 has recently taken a two-week break from racing – but not Verstappen.

Instead, the four-time world champion signed into Germany’s Nurburgring and drove a Ferrari – under an alias.

Max Verstappen is renowned for his utter obsession with racing.

Despite winning four consecutive F1 Drivers’ titles, the on-track action still isn’t enough for Max.

Among other drivers, such as McLaren’s Lando Norris, Verstappen is famous for playing racing video games.

And this past weekend, Verstappen made news for how he spent his two-week break.

The Dutch/Belgian driver decided to head to the famous Nurburgring in Germany.

Of course, there’s no way the world champion could sign in as “Max Verstappen”.

So he decided to come up with a crafty and cunning alias: “Franz Hermann.”

Hermann, sorry, Verstappen, went to these lengths in order to secretly test a Ferrari 296 GT3 supercar.

So, you can imagine that anyone at the track was probably scratching their heads at what they saw.

Because the average track-day enthusiast could never go as fast as the world champion.

But alas, it was Verstappen the whole time – although he was there for a good reason.

Aside from being a certified motorsport addict, Verstappen owns a racing team.

The Verstappen.com Racing team currently competes in the GT World Challenge championship.

And the European series just happens to be heading to the Nurburgring in August.

So Verstappen decided to get a head start, helping out with test and setup sessions, while also driving a Ferrari 296.

We have to admit – we seriously applaud Verstappen’s commitment to racing and cars.

That being said, it’s probably not wise to have the reigning world champion honking the horn of a Ferrari at you.
