A guy bought an incredibly dusty 1999 Porsche Boxster in San Francisco and soon discovered a weird noise when attempting to start it.

The car was bought sight unseen from a salvage auction, meaning the new owner knew very little about the car before he bought it.

In fact, just about the only thing the buyer did know was the car was listed as ‘not running’.

Thankfully, the car had ended up in the very capable hands of Jeff from the JRs Garage YouTube channel.

You may remember Jeff from the time he and his brother Christian bought a sight-unseen fire-damaged McLaren 650S Spider; or when the pair were almost scammed out of a Lamborghini Aventador until a fellow content creator stepped in to help.

The Porsche Boxster had been donated to charity, with the proceeds of the sale going to a good cause.

It also meant that the car was a bit of a bargain – or, at least it would be if Jeff could get it up and running again.

In the video, Jeff can be seen heading out to collect the Porsche, which is coated in a thick layer of dust.

A quick once-over revealed that the car’s bodywork was in pretty good shape.

Although there did appear to be evidence of a family of mice once living in the trunk. Not ideal.

The other issue was, of course, the fact the Porsche Boxster didn’t run.

Jeff was confident that he would be able to bring the car roaring back to life.

And – somewhat incredibly – within just 20 minutes of working on the car Jeff managed to get it running by jumping the battery.

However, it wasn’t the smoothest the engine had ever run, and Jeff soon noticed a strange ‘ticking’ noise.

He initially puts it down to ‘oil circulating’ since the vehicle has been parked for so long but then it refused to go away.

Nonetheless, he got the car moving even with the ‘slight engine tap’ and remained hopeful it was ‘something minor’.

Thankfully, it seemed as though he was right – and after leaving the car running for a few minutes it went away on its own.

With the car up and moving Jeff set his sights on a full restoration project for Porsche Boxster.

A happy ending for the old abandoned vehicle.
