A man left baffled after spotting an unusual supercar in America-mura in Osaka, Japan, reached out to the internet for help identifying it only to find out it was an incredibly rare hypercar.
Occasionally even the biggest gearhead will spot a car that leaves them completely stumped.
And that was the case for one Reddit user, who turned to the ‘What is this car’ subreddit for help.
For those unaware, the subreddit is pretty amazing at being able to identify unusual cars.

The mystery car turned out to be an Aspark Owl
In the past, the folks on What is this car have been able to identify some very obscure vehicles, such as this super rare Bricklin SV-1.
More recently, the group came to the assistance of a user called AzzAAdazzA who shared a couple of photos of a stunning-looking supercar he saw on the streets of America-mura in Osaka earlier this year.
The post was quickly flooded with comments, mostly from folks confirming that the car was ‘beautiful’.
However, a more helpful handful of people were able to identify the car as an Aspark Owl – an incredibly rare Japanese hypercar.
The Aspark Owl has been under development since 2018 and has a planned production run of just 50 vehicles.
While Aspark is Japanese, the quad-motor electric vehicle is produced by Manifattura Automobili Torino in Italy.
The hypercar has hit world-record-breaking speeds
Earlier this year, the Aspark OWL SP600 prototype became the fastest electric hypercar in the world, swiping the top spot from Nevera.
Nevera had held the esteemed position since November 2022 when videos emerged from Rimac Automobili of the electric hypercar clocking 412 km/h (256 mph) at the Automotive Testing Papenburg facility in Germany.
However, in June this year, the Aspark OWL SP600 hit a staggering 438.7 km/h (273 mph) – securing its place at the top.
The Owl can accelerate from 0-97 km/h (60 mph) in 1.72 seconds, 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds, and 0-186 mph (300 km/h) in 10.6 seconds.
