Gearhead revealed electric car range and its lost range after a decade

Thanks to a big advancement in clever technology, more and more drivers are considering the big jump from owning a gas-powered vehicle to one that is able to run solely on an electric powertrain.

To make the decision easier and to offer guidance to others, motorists have started sharing their experiences of owning an EV and the cost, battery impact, and general drivability.

YouTuber content creator Driven by Alex shared his experience of owning a Nissan Leaf.

The Leaf was ‘the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle’and was first experienced on the roads after being sold in Europe, America, and Japan.

Curious to see how his car had performed, Driven by Alex used a special device to measure aspects of the auto as well as record the all-important battery information, including electric car range and lost range.

Before finding out the results, the auto-enthusiasts shared what he was hoping to find, including a battery health index of between 60 and 80 percent.

And once he found out what was really going on beneath the hood, he was impressed.

The results indicated that the health index was at a level of 75.01%, which he was happy with.

He was also hoping for a state of health to come in at 85 percent or more, and it turned out to be 81.83 percent, which isn’t bad at all considering the age of the battery and car.

Amp hours of 59 or above were also aiming to be achieved, but the actual results came in just below that at 53.52 AHr.

But, the most impressive result was the range between the highest and lowest cells, coming in at 10 mV.

So all in all, for a 10-year-old budget EV, the Nissan Leaf did rather well.

The EV world is rapidly advancing

The EV world is constantly evolving thanks to clever technology.

From new battery advancements to new Tesla software updates, electric vehicles can be game-changing.

Leading EV giant Tesla, for example, recently announced the use of Grok AI in its cars, which is a first for the company.

Plus, Chinese frontrunner BYD has announced a new lightning-fast charging rollout in Europe that could change the game.

For now, though, you can catch all the Nissan action thanks to Driven by Alex.
