This man, a classic motorcycle enthusiast, headed to Kentucky from North Carolina in hopes of finding some collectibles but ended up with a classic car instead — a Chevy Corvette.
It wasn’t just any ‘Vette, either, but it was an extremely rare model.
Being a motorcycle guy, he was reluctant to pass off the opportunity but caved not long after.
This is certainly an exciting story, and spoiler alert: there’s a reasonably happy ending.

Man went to get motorcycles, found a classic car instead
Matt from the Wheels Through Time museum in North Carolina received a tip about a garage full of classic motorcycles in Kentucky.
He is an enthusiast, so he jumped on the opportunity to get some for himself since he owns a museum.
What’s more, he also made a video about it to post on his YouTube channel.
However, to his surprise, the garage had nothing worthwhile for his taste and only featured flashy or overly restored items.
Just when Matt thought that he wasted a trip, a bright red classic car caught his attention.
It was a 1954 Chevy Corvette — the first generation model.
C1 Corvettes are hard to spot these days, and a half-decent-looking one was a tempting purchase for him.
We have seen our fair share of early generations of Corvettes in barn finds.
There even was one sitting in a grocery store for 27 years, so there’s that.

Matt mentioned that of all the models of this iconic classic car that GM sent out in 1954, only 100 were painted red.
Considering this still had a stock paint job, it was a 1-of-100 example.
However, there was one big problem with his newest ride.
Although its engine looked pretty great, it didn’t run all too well.
In fact, it sounded like a tractor despite the previous owner mentioning that it used to run just fine before its several years of idle period.
After spending endless hours under its hood, fixing the carburetors, and rebuilding the distributor, Matt and his friend finally thought it needed a new set of spark plugs.
Interestingly, that was it — and his new Chevy Corvette ran (almost) perfectly.
Ultimately, he was satisfied with his purchase despite being a hardcore motorcycle enthusiast.
