Man finds one of the rarest Chevy Camaros rotting away in a barn

An American YouTuber has found a super rare Chevrolet Camaro, and this Chevy muscle car has rusted away in a barn since the 1980s, making it an incredible barn find.

YouTuber Backyard Barn Finds came across the car a few weeks ago and explained that it’s been sitting in the barn, hidden away for 45 years.

Only a handful of these particular Camaros were ever made. So finding one in great condition is already a hard task.

The car was left unrestored for decades, and hopefully, someone will bring this muscle car icon back to life.

The YouTuber reveals that the car in question is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car.

The 1969 Chevy Camaro paced the field for the 53rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 30th, 1969.

To commemorate this, Chevrolet produced 133 ’69 Camaros, decked out as festival pace cars.

These were faithful replicas of the Camaros that would serve as pace cars for the Indy 500.

Seven of these cars went to the Speedway, with two used for the actual pace car duties.

On top of the 133 official cars, Chevrolet built a limited run of replicas to sell to the public.

Although it initially planned to sell 6,400 units, only 3,675 of them were made.

The car in the YouTube video is one of those public replicas, complete with a white paint job and orange stripes.

It’s definitely seen better days, with dirt and moss on it, and the tires are also flat.

The tailgate, however, was quite clean, revealing the gorgeous paint job Chevrolet gave the Camaros.

Thankfully, under the hood, this rare gem of a car comes complete with its original engine.

The VIN reveals that the car was built during the first week of May 1969, not long before the Indy 500 itself.

While recovering the car, the YouTuber and his team managed to find some original General Motors spare parts.

These were even found in their original factory boxes.

The Camaro was put up for sale, and at the time of writing, it had already been sold.

That shows just how popular and sought-after 1969 Camaro Pace Cars are.
