A Tesla Cybertruck owner has broken down the amount that he spent on electricity to fuel his car over the course of a month.

Needless to say, petrol car owners might want to look away now.

Whilst the Cybertruck might have looks that divide opinion, there’s one thing we all have to agree on.

Electric cars are way cheaper to run.

This experiment was performed by Matt Wallace, who runs the MattWallaceTech channel on YouTube, where he shares loads of videos about his Cybertruck and other interesting pieces of technology.

Matt wanted to give his followers a peek behind the velvet robe into Cybertruck ownership, providing the real figures that make owning an electric car worthwhile.

After all, these strange-looking electric cars aren’t just for celebrities with gigantic bank balances, eventually we’re all going to need to make the switch.

Sure, we might not own customized Tesla beasts like Shaquille O’Neal or Kim Kardashian, but the writing is on the wall for the internal combustion engine as more and more manufacturers go all-electric.

So, what can we learn from Matt’s video?

Well, the obvious message is that – whilst owning a Cybertruck can be quite a significant outlay – you can expect to pay significantly less in fuel costs.

That’s not exactly a shocking revelation, but the amount still might surprise you.

Over the 31-day period that Matt analyzed, he spent just $32 on electricity.

Imagine what you’d spend in just one journey to the pump with a traditional petrol-powered car.

This is for the whole month.

More reasons to go electric

Admittedly, there are some things we don’t know here.

Matt might not have driven his car anywhere – or at least not far – and that might have an impact.

Theoretically, you could last a whole month on $32 of petrol, but you wouldn’t be traveling too far from home.

Also, Tesla often offers drivers cheaper electricity at ports for a certain time after buying the car, so we can’t be sure how much that has affected this particular experiment.

Once the freebies dry up, sometimes the reality can start to hit home, as it did for this Toyota Mirai owner.

Ultimately, we have to take the creator at his word – after all, we all know that electricity is cheaper than petrol.

In the comments section, he’s certainly got people talking.

One person asked: “How is that possible?”

“Infuriated Dodge Ram drivers,” wrote another.

In the end, what we can be sure of is that electric cars offer good value and are the vehicle of the future – probably the present, too.

After all, it’s not just good for the bank balance – it’s also better for the planet.

Don’t worry – nobody will force you to buy a Cybertruck if you don’t like them.
