Man bought a brand new BMW G90 M5 then modified it and BMW responded to it

Hot off the back of buying a brand new BMW G90 M5, this UK man had already gotten it up on the ramp for some mods, and it resulted in the manufacturers intervening.

The BMW G90 M5 is just over a year old, with the V8 hybrid only hitting the roads in December 2024, dividing opinons with its aggro-heavy and much bulkier look compared to other M-series models.

The saloon version espeically is beginning to win over the BMW stans across Europe as the car market has begun growing – literally – around it.

But this UK man felt his new G90 needed a boost, although he needed to be careful of attracting unwanted pressure from the German manufacturers.

The BMW G90 M5 got off to a rocky start, but it soon began to grow into a popular car and a blueprint for other manufacturers to copy and modding mechanics to buff.

Having showcased impressive drifting skills and wild quarter-mile speeds, the M5 is now attracting more attention.

Still, individual mechanics have been looking to unlock even more power, style, and finesse, and this UK man has started his overhaul at the wheels.

Calvin’s Car Diary

With custom-built Hancook tyres, made only for the new M5 models, finding replacements is quite difficult. But Calvin’s Car Diary started his mods with a $700 pair of PS4 SUV Michellin’s and new low-riding suspension coils.

The new tyres were wrapped around fresh silver alloys, differing from the stock black options.

Then there was some bodywork coating to protect the $7,000 carbon exterior.

But before he continued with plans of adding an Overkill Performance mod, targeting the exhaust and the engine, he was pressed to get it checked out by the hands who made it.

BMW itself quickly pressed pause on these planned modifications in order to keep the warranty valid.

In fact, the manufacturers claimed that the only mod that would be safe from here on would be custom wheel caps…

No engine mods, no exhaust enhancements, just dust caps.

Thankfully, though, BMW provided some free of charge.

Not every modded kit reaps its rewards, such as this Porsce 911 Targa upgrade, which came back to bite the owner on the rear.

However, the smaller details on this BMW G90 M5 appear to have worked a treat, and it’s all still within the rules.
