One wealthy entrepreneur had a three-and-a-half-week negotiation with a dealership in Denver, Colorado in the US with logistical hurdles that seemed completely avoidable.

The apology note that followed was ‘weak’.

When buying a McLaren Senna goes wrong

Shared to Exotic Car Hacks, Pejman Ghadimi spoke about his disappointment over the purchasing progress.

“I’ve bought quite a bunch of hypercars over the last 10 years,” he said – in other words, he knows what he’s doing.

It was said that they’d used an inexperienced broker.

After the long negotiations and the complications with shipping that followed, Ghadimi expected an apology.

However, he found the note that he received from McLaren Denver more of a nod to the problems he’d experienced than a heartfelt apology.

“PJ, thank you for your business. Enjoy the Senna. Thank you for your patience with shipping,” it read.

He described it as ‘pretty weak’.

Meanwhile, this McLaren Senna GTR was converted to become road-legal and hit the streets.

What would he do differently next time?

He has several tips for those investing in a high-end hypercar.

First up: managing shipping independently with a carrier you trust.

Second, verify broker competence without trying to save money and ensure the company has experience in the field to avoid issues with size and insurance requirements.

Third: demand communication about the transaction from the dealership if you’re investing millions.

Next, set up clear timeline expectations from the beginning of the process to avoid delays during peak times like the holiday season.

Last but certainly not least, he suggests taking a more proactive approach in following up with the dealer and the shipping company rather than waiting for updates.
