Tesla is one of the most well-known EV companies on the globe.

From its talked-about Cybertruck to its daily drivers, including the Model 3 and Y, the company rules the electric roost.

For example, the company was recently spotted testing a never-before-seen prototype that people think might be its new affordable EV.

Plus, Tesla’s first robotaxi was actually caught driving solo in Austin before the anticipated launch date.

But these cars don’t just run on air. They need electricity to help them shift into gear, and lots of it.

Often, the amount of electricity a car is projected to use is a huge factor for people deciding to make the jump from a gas-powered vehicle to an EV.

So to help people make an informed decision, one YouTuber decided to break down the costs and share just how much her electricity bill had risen.

YouTuber Shelby Church shared the video online and explained how much she actually paid per month.

And, it turns out that she actually saved money by using an electric vehicle.

She noted that there are factors to take into account, such as where you live, as well as peak and off-peak rates.

“The cost to charge varies, depending on where you live. Similar to gas, prices of electricity are different, state to state,” she explained.

In the last month leading up to the video, she used 162 kWh at $0.22309, which came to a total of $36.14.

This cost was basically equivalent to three full charges and around 700 miles – which she found out due to a tracking app.

“Basically it’s $35 a month on average if I drive around 700 miles,” she explained. Which, you have to admit, is pretty reasonable.
