Koenigsegg produces some of the most amazing supercars in the world, yet its founder gets about in a humble daily driver.
Christian Von Koenigsegg is responsible for some amazing performance cars but chooses a Toyota GR Yaris to get around in.
Despite its modest performance compared to a supercar, the GR Yaris is one of the most critically acclaimed vehicles of recent years.
Its lightness and three-cylinder engine made it a rocketship, proving that you don’t need to have lots of horsepower to have lots of fun.

Koenigsegg showed the Yaris off on Instagram
Christian posted a clip of him driving the car on his way to Koenigsegg’s HQ in Sweden.
In the clip, we hear him say ‘three-cylinder madness in the morning’ before he sets off on his drive.
The caption reads: “Nothing like a little 3-cylinder madness for the morning commute! I love small cars!”
The supercar CEO seems overjoyed to be driving the little hatchback, which had overwhelmingly positive reviews in 2020.
It looks like he has the updated 2024 version of the GR Yaris.
The later model saw power jump from 268hp to 280hp, and torque from 273lbs-ft to 288lbs-ft.
Koenigsegg clearly loves Toyotas, as he has also owned the 2021 GR Yaris Circuit Pack, selling it for €38,000 in 2022.
Supercar CEOs love basic daily drivers
Koenigsegg isn’t the only supercar manufacturer CEO to own a more basic daily driver.
Bugatti and Rimac CEO Mate Rimac has a soft spot for his BMW M5 E39.
While it is punchier than a GR Yaris is still a world away from his Rimac EVs.
Koenigsegg himself has proclaimed his love for other smaller performance cars like the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
He loves it so much that in 2023, he said that if he only had one tank of gasoline left, he’d put it into an MX-5 Miata.
The company has produced cars since 1994, with the CC prototype forming the basis for their current machines.
Since then, they have gone on to become one of the most respected performance car manufacturers in the world.
Its latest models are the CC850 and Chimera, both unveiled in 2024.
