Jet-powered 1990s sport boat looks like a Porsche and it’s no coincidence

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s not Superman, either. It’s a Porsche-inspired sports boat.

Bringing 90s joyrides through the Alps down to the shores of the Pacific, this boat is anything but usual.

With a Porsche body hailing from Germany’s mountains and a proud American Craig Craft 168 Boss core, it’s a bizarre creation.

But the custom-made sports vessel is swinging on the right side of the cool-to-wacky pendulum.

This custom sports boat is a shrine to Porsche

Porsche itself dipped a toe into the sea with a very impressive electric boat named 850 Phantom Air, which uses the same powertrain as the Macan EV.

Lamborghini followed suit with the 63, but these manufacturer-designed boats cost hundreds of thousands and even into the millions.

That price has left people to get a little bit adventurous.

Enter the ‘Porsche Boaster’ – aptly nicknamed by a bidder.

This 90s throwback was heavily inspired by the supercar brand, from the rounded headlights and smooth curved nose to the blue and white stitched upholstery in the interior.

While it’s not based on an individual Porsche, the seller claims that this bit of ‘high-performance marine engineering,’ is one of seven ever made and is a ‘true collector’s piece.’

Some commenters see more of a Fiat 850 Spyder look, though.

Still, the vessel definitely captures everything that was brilliant with the brand throughout the 90s.

Capable of hitting 50mph, the speedboat combines speed with style, as a retractable canopy and waterproof leather seats mean the owner can cruise around the sea in style.

You might even be able to spot the Supercar Blondie team whizzing around on this $20,000 mini-electric jet vessel.

The sports car body sits on a 1995 Craig Craft 168 Boss 16′ speedboat with a 4.3-liter V6 engine and a Berkeley Jet drive, making it more than just a gimmick.

At the time of writing, the boat is being sold at an online auction with the highest bid of $15,500.

Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a 1995 Craig Craft 168 Boss speedboat get a Porsche makeover.

A previous build paid homage to the Porsche Boxster, tributing the beloved 90s car in the same vein, just in a black and yellow hue.
