Kawasaki just launched a new hydrogen robot dog in Japan.

The robot is called Corleo, and it looks like a dog, but has the ‘face’ of an alien wearing a mask.

Despite looking like a dog, you’re supposed to ride it like a horse.

And, of course, it uses AI.

A robot you can use as means of transport

The robot dog was designed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, a multinational manufacturer based in Japan that most people know for its motorcycles.

Corleo, this is what they call it, is a robot powered by hydrogen that also relies on artificial intelligence, using information about the rider’s weight to improve its ride and manage its speed.

It can also jump over obstacles.

Corleo is just a concept for now, but Kawasaki said that something like this has a potential to become a consumer product anyone can buy a few decades from now.

Interestingly, this is the same thing that Elon Musk has been saying about Optimus.

Where are we with AI-powered androids?

AI-powered bots are becoming a thing.

Several companies have been working on different models for a while, from AI companies to automakers like BMW and Mercedes.

Most of these androids still appear rudimentary and ‘incomplete’, but progress is happening at rapid speeds.

A few weeks ago, a tech company unveiled a robot that knows kung fu, and it’s truly impressive.

It’s the same with Tesla’s Optimus robot.

Tesla unveiled the first generation of Optimus in 2022, and then launched the second generation, a lot more autonomous and overall more ‘refined’ than its predecessor.

But, and it’s an important ‘but’, the truth is that these are all still prototypes and concepts.

A reality where John and Jame Smith can drive to the nearest shopping mall and buy an android for their home still feels a bit distant.
